"treatment for hernia"

About: Worcestershire Royal Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

Just wanted to say I felt totally looked after during my stay last Friday, excellent staff, nurses, doctors and surgeons. Thanks to the team that did my op, a groin hernia, Mr Collet (I think that was the surgeons name) did the op. He explained what was happening from the start and answered all my questions without hesitation. In addition, the female Doctor (sorry forgot her name) and her team who talked me through the procedure for general anaesthetic and again answered all my questions sympathetically.

All the nursing staff and a special thanks to Debbie (morning) and Sarah (afternoon) who made me feel relaxed and at home although I was only there from mid morning till late afternoon. Also the Portuguese cleaning lady who was really friendly and we shared football stories about our children. She was great and really seemed interested while not stopping with her work.

From start to finish, I felt in professional hands, a credit to the NHS. Even though my first operation was cancelled the week before, I appreciate these things happen.

It is great to hear that everyone has played a part in making your experience less worrying for you.

Having planned surgery is an extremely anxious time and the smallest compassion and understanding often plays the biggest part in someone’s stay.

Thank you
