"HIV discrimination by orthopaedic consultant"

About: Royal Bournemouth General Hospital

Anything else?

Came to see an orthopaedic consultant regarding my painful hip.

The consultant introduced himself, told me nothing new, asked about my HIV, lifted my leg up and out, said if I get the start of arthritis in this hip then I will need a replacement, but said if any further treatment was need I would have to be seen at a HIV centre of excellent, he left the room told the nurse I was discharged. A 12 week wait for a five minute chat, no explanation of why I was in pain nothing at all, not even shown the X-ray. I know a lot about my hips as I've already had one hip replaced. The consultant was clearly not interested in me as a patient as I was HIV if the consultant had consulted, done the correct teat and investigated properly then he would have found out via a MRI or CT scan.

I went private to have the CT and MRI scan which i should of had done at bournemouth as it clearly show that the AVN and arthritis in the hip and I need a replacement done before my hip collapses.

I feel angry that a hospital can clearly discriminate against a HIV patient in this way and this hospital needs to change its attitude to HIV patients and to treat them with dignity at all times.

This consultants also needs to change is ways when dealing with a HIV person and not consulting about their HIV but in fact consultant on why a patient has come to see them in the first place, and not washing their hands so quickly and do their job properly

So I would not recommend this hospital at all
