although the standard of nursing care was very good, I felt things fell down when it came to co-operation between the catering staff and the nursing staff. The catering staff seemed to have no idea what the patient should be given and the nurses were often unaware of what they had eaten or even whether they had eaten anything.On one occasion, my husband who was unable to eat or drink, was given a baked potatoe! Another time when he was on a fluid diet only he was given a ham sandwich which made him very sick. I do appreciate that the nurses were always so very busy; often understaffed andthey really has no time to deal with diets. Perhaps the catering staff could have some sort of training,or at least ask the nurses what a patient should be having.
