"Professional and caring - an example to follow!"

About: King's College Hospital (Denmark Hill)

Anything else?

I cannot think of anything that could be improved during my visit.

I had a mild asthma attack that wasn't responding to usual treatment, so I went to general reception on a Sunday afternoon, and they reported me to A&E, where an assessment nurse saw me almost immediately and later on a doctor saw me.

Both the general building and the A&E department were clean, easily accessible, with signs for emergency services highlighted in red.

Staff was very professional and kind - all of them (receptionists, nurses, doctor, cleaning staff). Everybody did their bit to make sure you were properly cared for, efficiently and calmly (much to be grateful for in an A&E service!). I could discuss all I had to with the nurse and the doctor, who both made all checks required. I was properly examined, was asked lots of questions regarding my general health and previous history. I feared I would be prescribed corticoids but I was prescribed antihysteminics and given advice, which is much better.

I felt they took me and my condition seriously, they listened and were always polite and kind.

Everybody was very professional and friendly, A&E is usually a bit chaotic and you can expect staff to be more stressed, but in this place there was a good team working making sure everything ran smoothly.
