There was only 2 NHS professionals in my short lived pregnancy that I felt were good.
One was my midwife and the other was a nurse who broke the news to me that I'd miscarried, but I'd seen her once before and she was amazing.
Every other nurse I dealt with told me I had miscarried and then they wasn't 100% sure I'd miscarried, even though I'd already been told I had. It was horrible. At 20 years old I never thought that I'd miscarry and to have had all these different stories off 9 separate nurses really made me angry and even more distressed.
The lack of care and compassion was ridiculous. I know nurses in the early pregnancy assessment unit probably see these things everyday, but the way they treat you like you're an item in a factory is ridiculous, in and out in seconds with 2 separate versions of a story, and then no emotional help at the end of it.
It's the hardest thing ever. I hope if I do get pregnant again in the future I do not have to visit Heartlands Hospital again. They dealt with me so appallingly that my friend who is also a nurse was gobsmacked at my treatment, how every time I had to have a scan because of complications they didn't talk me through it.
They didn't explain anything to me and even when I was admitted to hospital overnight the same thing happened then. I was being examined, scanned, tested, had internals and every time I asked them what was going on I never got a reply that was substantial enough. I was always fobbed off with "its just routine" but no explanation of why I was having more and more things done to me.
