"My son received great care for acute appendicitis "

About: Russells Hall Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

My son had to be admitted to this hospital in the early hours of Sunday morning he lives in Halesowen so this is nearest hospital to him. We live in Telford and were informed by a freind of his what had happened. We got to the hospital about two in the morning. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and at ease, the doctor seeing my son l was helpful in keeping us informed. A&E staff brilliant. he was transfered to SAU and once again staff so helpful and caring it was brilliant. We came home once he was in SAU and he had had painkillers for his condition he had to wait to see surgeon in the morning. he was operated on next day for accute appendix

The point of this story? the care, the staff, from A&E, SAU, wards B3 and B4 we received nothing but absolute care, consideration, and smiling faces, helpful beyond duty, they put up with my numerous phone calls always happily, and where possible I was able to speak to my son and he was able to reassure Dad and me that all was ok.

Our thanks go to you all you wonderful people, you are doing a grand job, keep it up

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your son’s experience of our hospital. It is a difficult time when a loved one is taken into hospital, so we are pleased we were able to assure you that your son was in safe and caring hands. It is also wonderful to hear that you were in regular contact with hospital staff, as making sure that patients and their families are fully informed is a priority for us. We will pass your compliments on to our Accident and Emergency Department, Ward B3 and its Surgical Assessment Unit, and Ward B4. I’m sure all the staff involved in your son’s care will be thrilled to receive your praise.
