Anything else?
Certain individual staff have been absolutely fantastic, exactly what you would want but the general level of care has been so bad that the family decided to maintain a 24/7 presence to ensure that she received basic care. On a number of occasions morphine drips ran out and sometimes weren’t replaced for hours leaving her in a great deal of pain and distress, false teeth were thrown away, Rosary’s were thrown away with bedding, she was shouted at by a member of staff for having a bath when another member of staff had actually put her in the bath, she has been ignored by members of staff, she was told that certain medication she needed was not in the hospital yet another member of staff was able to go to a cupboard and get it two minutes later, I could go on and on and on about the mistakes that have been made.
It worries me that she has been fortunate to have a number of people able to stand up for her and to take action on her behalf where necessary. What about those less fortunate? What would have happened if her grown children hadn’t taken what has been weeks off work to actually look after her while she was in hospital?
Like I said, certain individuals have been absolutely amazing, the rest has been absolutely awful.
