My boyfriend (21) was taken by an amulance on Wednesday to Royal Free Hospital in West Hampsted. He was in pain and was vomiting whole day. They gave him paracetamol and co-codamol and sent him half alive to home. At home he was vomiting whole night and he was in pain.
On thursday he was quite fine but then he had a slice of bread for dinner and next morning in started again. He was vomiting with blood so I called a cab and we went to A&E in Central Middlesex Hospital. In this hospital staff was really helpful and kind. They did a lot of blood tests and x-rays. They gave him morphine and antibiotics. We went there around 12 and he got better around 7: 30pm.
They then decided to send him to Northwick Park Hospital. We werent happy about this decision because he was there a year ago with his appendix and the staff wasnt really helpful. They sent him to Northwick Park in quite good condition. I mean he was conscious and even talkative. Yesterday I came to visit him at 2pm and was in strong pain and semi-conscious. Of course nobody cares. His parents siad that they want to talk to doctor but nurse said that its weekend and there is no doctor.
She said that plan for him is to eat and check if he is going to vomit. And what have they given him for lunch? Lasagne. I said that its crazy of course he's gonna vomit with lasagne if his stomach is in this condition. Then nurse said that she can't forbid him eating lasagne. I was really unhappy about it so she sent us another nurse. She said that I am right and that she will ask a dostor for a diet for him.
How unprofessional some people in hospital can be? Do they have no basic knowledge and no shame?
I have been told yesterday that its just food poinsoning. So for Gods sake, they cant treat food poisoning in 5 days in 3 hospitals? I think its time for big changes in NHS...
