"Worst experience of my life!"

About: New Cross Hospital

Anything else?

To cut a long story short,I went for a chest X-ray after being ill for 3 weeks suspected pneumonia .I was so ill and had trouble breathing I was in a wheelchair, nurse came out to me in corridor with results ,told me I had lung disease but I could go home.

She asked me why I was in a chair explained I was vey ill then she said I better see a doctor.

Doctors looked at my x ray on aeu told me there was no lung disease,it was probably bad case of flu and was about to send me when I asked why I couldn't breath, my sats were checked they were down to 88%.Doctor then changed his mind and decided it might be a blood clot on the lung and would need a ct scan so I would need to be admitted.

Had scan 2 days later no blood clot , no diagnosis was given to me even after having numerous tests and still feeling really ill.

Was told it may be suspected tb,or a tropical disease I may have picked up from abroad ?

Was prescribed new medication, after taking them for 2 days I asked what they were for, liver damage was the reply .When doctor came next day I asked him about it as no one had mentioned liver damage to me,only to be told my liver function was fine and he had no idea why they had been prescribed!

After 6 days with no and lots of misdiagnosis I was starting to get very upset (I have 2 young children) my mom complained to the sister ,none of their guess work had been documented in my notes.

Eventually I was visited by a respiratory doctor (the only person who knew what he was doing)and it was confirmed I had pneumonia .

I started on a course of steroids and new antibiotics and was feeling much better within a couple of days.

After a stay of 11 days I went home, but even then I wasn't prescribed the correct amount of anti biotics.I was supposed to take a 3 week course but was only given a weeks supply ,my gp received a letter explaining this a week after my dishcharge.

So as I had a break from them i had to start another course.
