"Nursing care and RADS(Respiratory Assisted..."

About: Gloucestershire Royal Hospital

Anything else?

My husband walked into GRH A&E with breathing difficulties. A&E was excellent but that was all. He was never placed in a Respiratory Ward.

He was discharged as 'well' just 3 days later, under the RADS scheme.

He was returned by ambulance on a stretcher at 9pm and was placed downstairs in his reclining armchair, on oxygen.

He was soiled, unwashed, unshaven and unable to stand. I was left alone to nurse him. I am 75.

A nurse physio came on the afternoon of the 21st. She had no functioning meter to test blood oxygen levels or pulse but fortunately I had one. She suggested a GP visit.

We transferred him to a private hospital the next day, where he went into the Intensive Therapy Unit. He died 11 days later.
