Last month I received treatment for a keloid scar at the dermatology unit at UCLH. The staff were extremely efficient and managed to carry out my operation the same day as my consultancy. The keloid scar on my earlobe was quite large and made me feel really self conscious and unhappy. The scar was something that I usually concealed and was extremely embarrassed if anyone saw it. Usually I hate going to the doctors, but the staff in the dermatology unit put me at ease and I never felt embarrassed or uncomfortable about my problem. They explained my operation clearly and offered my reassurance when I I told them I was a little anxious -as I have had similar treatment in the past but have always been accompanied by a family member. In the end the treatment was over quickly and although the wound is still healing I am very happy with the result. I would certainly recommend UCLH and their staff should be commended for their hard work, caring attitude and efficiency.
