"A&E visit for treatment after accident with a..."

About: Lister Hospital

Anything else?

My wife took me to the A&E Department after my index and second fingers of my left hand were chopped by a rotating model aircraft propeller. I was concerned that I might loose full use of these fingers.

However, the young doctor who saw me initially decided to consult his senior, and a means of repairing the damage was worked out and explained to me fully.

Working as a team, they then closed all the wounds and completely stopped the bleeding.

I understand that there may be some loss of feeling in my index finger - but that is all.

I was then given an anti-tetanus injection and a 7-day course of antibiotics before being discharged.

Although we were there for several hours - we did understand that they were extremely

busy - we were always treated with the utmost courtesy.

I would much rather have avoided the accident - but it is very reassuring that such excellent emergency care is available locally.
