"Walk in centre and A&E should be separate services..."

About: St George's Hospital (Tooting) (London)

Anything else?

I was wondering why you moved the walk in centre within your A&E department. It now takes hours to be seen by a doctor. I went to the hospital at 7 pm and the doctor only saw me at 11 pm.

The nurses and doctor were amazing, but I think the wait is way too long...

Please do something and separate again the A&E and the walk in centre.!

Thank you for your comments and for taking the time to express your concerns regarding the integration of Tooting Walk-in Centre into St George’s A&E department. We are very sorry to learn of your long wait in A&E. From 27th May to 7th December 2011 a formal public consultation entitled ‘Improving Health in South Wandsworth’ took place. The outcome was full public support for changing the model of emergency care at St George’s Hospital, which will improve patient experience by delivering treatment in the most appropriate place. As part of these proposals, the minors section and the Tooting Walk-in Centre moved into newly refurbished accommodation in the A&E department, where treatment continues for less serious illnesses and injuries which require immediate care, but not the full services of an A&E. We apologise again for the long wait and if the above does not adequately address your concerns then please contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS@stgeorges.nhs.uk) who will be able to investigate further.
