Anything else?
I went into the day surgery unit in the treatment centre on 20th March. I arrived, as instructed at 7.15 am. A group of us were then taken on to the ward. A nurse came to check my details, which made me feel confident that they were checking and double checking details. I was in to have my gall bladder removed with keyhole surgery. I went down for my operation at 9.45 and was back on the ward by 11.45, after spending around half an hour in recovery. All of this seemed to run very smoothly. Once back on the ward the nurses took my obs every half an hour, so it was easy for me to ask questions that kept popping into my head. I was able to go home around 4.30pm. I have to say that hospitals terrify me and it was a big decision on my part to go ahead with this op. The whole experience was very positive. I didn't feel isolated, there were plenty of nurses around. And I am so glad I went in and had it done, I have also heard lots of bad things about Milton Keynes hospital, and, in the past have had some negative experiences myself. I felt it important to give a view from a positive perspective and to show that if MK hospital can get it right in some areas there is hope for other areas where there is room for improvement.
