"requiring out of hours service provision"

About: Harmoni / NHS 111

(as the patient),

I had been suffering with what was thought to be an upper respiratory infection for a week. I accessed my GP at the beginning of my illness who advised I take paracetamol and ibuprofen and have bed rest and I should be feeling well in a few days. As the week progressed, I was not feeling any better despite following the advice I had received and used additional home remedies from the NHS choices website.

At the end of my teather I rang the 111 helpline via my out of hours GP service for some further advice. After a comprehensive telephone consultation, they put me in contact with my local out of hours service where I was able to get the correct medication for what turned out to be acute tonsilitis and began to feel better within 24 hours.

Thank you for posting your experiences and I am pleased that a treatment plan was facilitated by NHS111 that has enabled you to be on the mend.

NHS111 undertakes full health assessments on callers using skilled and trained Health Advisors using software called NHSPathways with support from clinicians when necessary.

I hope that you are now feeling much better.
