"short term care on ward 1"

About: Hull Royal Infirmary

Anything else?

was on this ward 5 nites as i had to go on a drip for 6 hours a day over three days, i was on a ward with 3 other beds and patients were coming and going . one patient a woman kept having fits and i kept calling the nurses if they were bad and one morning the lady was real upset having loads of spasms she couldnt speak and was numb down her right hand side . i raced to get help and the cleaner said to get a nurse and whaen i found 1 she said there are nurses at that end of the ward so she didnt want to help. i ran back to the lady and rang the buzzer and comforted her till a nurse arrived . what great service eh.i went to toilet and a patient had messed it up with excrement so i told a nurse and when i went next morning it was still there :(. the morning i came home the nurse just popped her head round the corner real abrupt and rude and said doctors dont want to see you go home now and this was in front of everybody. i asked for a sick note and " no you dont get one" i asked for my discharge papers " they are ready you can go home now" i was in tears i got dressed and still had a canular in my arm so i asked the auxilary to take it out for me and they came to strip my bed and this auxilary said i was still there but they still did it so i asked for my discharge papers and they said they would post them as i would be waiting ages. i was told they were ready . i walked out and got the bus home as i didnt want to hang around waiting for my sisiter to pick me up as i felt so humiliated.some nurses were lovely but one had no heart and why she does nursing i dont know it must be for the money as she does not have a caring bone in her body
