"HEART A/E Treated with Calmness ..."

About: Conquest Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

HEART A/E Treated with Calmness & Reassurance. CCU once again the same Calmness &

Reassurance nothing was to much trouble, all questions were answered both by Doctors &

nurses & proceedures explained, everything was made clear to me & my Wife. It was decided I needed a Pacemaker, this was fitted by a team lead by an extremley kind and competent Surgeon and they were a team working well together. After the operation back to a different ward, the third ward I had been on, and once again the same high standards. I include in this not only the nursing staff but also the Porters & Cleaning Staff. I have learnt in my life that if the bottom fails it is not long before the rot sets in. My wife who was always fearful of having to go into the Conquest is now much reassured. The Ambulance Service was also excellent. And last but not least FOOD. Never going to satisfy everbody or be 5star More than adequate hot & edible. My personal Thanks to All

What could be improved

Staff levels in both Nursing & the Cleaning Departments. Cleaners seem to have just and i mean just enough time to do there job, if anything goes wrong spilt drinks or anything else they are under pressure. In fact on one ward they were short of staff while supervisor sat on their backside. The Nurses are under almost constant pressure, a 12hr shift with some older patients who are not always fully competent. At the end of there Shift they have been there at least an hour too long. This cannot be right as tiredness is culminative with all the consequences.
