"All being well, I am very impressed "

About: Tameside General Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I was admitted in February for a routine total hysterectomy and B. S. O. I saw my surgeon and anaesthetist before the surgery and was told exactly what would happen. Operation was exactly as I was told.

My only issue was that I was on the enhanced recovery plan and was told painkillers would be offered every four hours. Unfortunately, I had to ask for them! I also had to carry a bag of my blood from the drain with me, and it wasn't put on a stand.

All being well, I am very impressed with Tameside Hospital.

Thank you for your positive comment relating to your surgery in February.

We are currently working hard to ensure that all elements of the Enhanced Recovery Plan are working effectively and we will use your feedback in assisting us.

Kind regards

Beverley Tabernacle

Deputy Director of Nursing

Would you like to help the hospital to improve its services further? We are currently looking for patients and carers to become involved in a development called “Patient Stories”. We want to know more about our services from the point of view of those who received them – what was good, bad, what could be improved, what should be changed. Want to know more about what’s involved? Please contact John Goodenough, Director of Nursing at
