Anything else?
Visited an almost deserted (by patients) Cromer hospital yesterday for a blood test and an X-Ray. Whilst I cannot complain about the timliness or efficiency of my treatments, I was less than impressed by the morose bedside manner of all the people, bar the receptionist in radiology, with whom I came into contact. No smiles, no conversation, in spite of my attempts at such, just monosybillic instructions as to what to do followed by a reluctant return of my cheery 'goodbye'. Why I wonder? The hospital is not busy so overwork and stress cannot be to blame. Boredom perhaps? Disenchantment with their (pretty fortunate in my view) lot?Who knows. Also, a neighbour of mine visited the eye clinic today with a possible detached retina - pretty serious potentially, I would have though. In spite of the usin being 'unable' to treat my friend without a referral, I was gobsmacked that someone did not have the gumption at least to inspect the eye to see how serious the condition might or might not be (it could have been symptomatic of a stroke for exa mple) . She was sent home after making an appointment with herGP - which admittedly the hospital staff were helpful in facilitating. Oh dear!
"service without a smile"
