I am a 61 year old man. I have terminal cancer. I can only guess but feel that am on my last lap now.

I just have to simply praise and thank all the staff at St Marks Hospital. Their professionalism is superb and the manner by which they have treated me has been inclusive and affording me such dignity.

I have to mention but a few and sorry cannot include all. My Oncologist has been absolutely superb. Highly professional, decisive and intelligent approach. Trying everything- always with a forward contingency plan and always when possible including my wishes.What a hard job to do but done with such composure and confidence. Awe inspiring.

My chemo team create a great atmotsphere whilst working under extreme pressure but they have time not only for the highest professional care but also to humanise the process. The Chemo team leader is caring and deserves so much praise--all others do also.

The stoma team superb and the Staars team responded so exceptionally well when I had an emergency.

The MacMillan Nurses--fantastic--played such a huge part in helping me. Front desk reception helped so much on how to convey message to my children as have had young ones later in my life.

The surgeons who saved me and reversed my stoma--thank you -and your teams. Visiting Acton was always a pleasant experience and you have great teams there.

The nursing staff at Northwick Park after my surgery were great support.

I owe so much to the NHS as so many who are silent do also.

I wish we could protect the NHS better from Govt cuts and save and improve a great British Institution. I always felt ,even when fully healthy, that I would gladly pay much more tax if it was firmly ring -fenced into front line NHS Services.

Than you St Marks Staff--you have extended my life with quality by, in my view ,going so far beyond the boundaries of a basic service. It has been an excellent caring service.

Now you all keep healthy.
