"Still waiting for results"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

Anything else?

I was referred to the Breast Surgery Unit following a visit to my GP on 26th March, 2013. An appointment was made with the unit for 4th April and I was seen on time. I have no complaints about the care I received during my visit. However, following a mammagram, ultrasound and biopsy, I was told that my results would not be known until the following Thursday and I would receive a phone call or letter, depending on the result. On 15th April I rang the unit to say I had not received any information and the consultant's secretary rang me the following day to say a letter was being prepared and should be received by the end of the week. Today, 22nd April, I have still received nothing so rang my GP surgery who confirm they have an undated report and I have had to make an appointment to find out what is in the report. I feel that this has all taken far too long, and I still do not know the outcome of my visit.

While I'm pleased to hear that you were happy with the care you received during your visit I'm very sorry to hear of the delay in getting your results and apologise for the distress this has caused. If you would like to contact me I will personally ensure the results are available to you. Catherine Walsh

Radiology and Breast Services Manager
