"Lack of discretion"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

Anything else?

I was in urgent care to see a doctor about anxiety attacks (a fairly personal and sensitive issue). I was recommended to visit my GP by the receptionist. She mentioned my condition over the counter and asked very personal questions, including whether I had suicidal thoughts. All of this was within earshot of other receptionists and patients and I felt very uncomfortable.

We are sorry to hear of your experience and apologises for any embarrassment caused. We are aware that the nurse who is in charge of arranging appointments with the patient’s own GP if appropriate is currently located at the front reception desk as you mentioned. Due to the issues you have raised with us, we will look at re-locating this nurse to a different more private location so patient confidentiality can be maintained.
