"Excellent care on Ward 21"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

Anything else?

My Dad was admitted to Ward 21 this week for elective surgery on his aortic anuerysm. Due to the seriousness of this condition this was an anxious time for him and all of the family. The multi-disciplinary team on ward 21 put him at ease and he was really happy with the care he received. He commented that the staff couldn't do enough for him and he enjoyed the food.

I was particularly happy to see the interaction between my Dad and the staff nurse he had met the week before in the pre-op assesment clinic. It was clear that she remembered the conversation they had at the clinic as she referred to things like his holiday plans and the fact that she was too short to measure his height. It makes patients feel special when staff remember them. As a UHL and LRI employee I was proud to see quality care in action.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share you/your father's experiences with us. We have passed your comments onto the staff involved in your father's care who will be touched to hear your kind words. It's feedback like this that helps to keep morale high at the hospital. We wish you and your father all the best - a speedy recovery for him too.
