My dad was cared for on Ward C during the final week and a half of his life. He was treated with dignity and compassion and I have nothing but praise for the staff on the ward. They were kind and supportive to the family and took the time to explain things in detail and to include us in his care decisions. My only criticism relates to the bereavement booklet we were given, which was dated 2003 and had incorrect information and phone numbers. I was also unimpressed by the complete lack of signage for bereavement services. However, the ladies at the information desk were extremely polite and helpful when I asked for directions.

Dear Ms Lewis – Please accept my condolences on your sad loss. Thank you for your email concerning C Ward and the professionalism and care provided by the staff. I am sorry that the bereavement leaflet provided was out of date and that the signage was also incomplete. I can confirm updated leaflets as at June 2010 are available and can also be accessed via the North Bristol Trust (NBT) website. Every effort has been made to keep the on site directions up-to-date at Southmead while the difference major building projects are on-going and I apologise you were inconvenienced at such a traumatic time, however, I am glad that the reception staff where able to assist.

All your comments have been fedback to the areas responsible in order that they can ensure the positive feedback is provided and the problems you have identified are addressed.
