"comparing parking at Exeter and Plymouth"

About: Derriford Hospital Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford)

(as a service user),

Very impressed with parking arrangements at Exeter - used Hospital Park and Ride. Quick, efficient and arrived at appointment in relaxed state.

Unlike Plymouth, where parking can take up to an hour. I visit regularly with my disabled daughter - not a good experience - bad for blood pressure!

Glad I chose Exeter for my treatment.

Thank you for your enquiry and I am sorry to note that your experiences of parking at the Derriford site have proved stressful.

Plymouth Hospitals advise patients and visitors to use the Park and Ride facilities at The George, Roborough, which is easy to access and only 8 minutes by bus. The Park and Ride also has dedicated buses to and from the Hospital operated by Target Travel and liveried as Derriford. There are numerous disabled and non disabled spaces at the George all on level ground. The parking facilities available at The George provides generous parking space and has a covered bus terminus where patients/visitors can wait for the bus to arrive and also has disabled and non disabled toilet facilities.

You will no doubt be aware that parking at the Derriford site now uses Pay on Foot Systems on the majority of its' car parks. The pay on foot system allows the user to pay for the actual time they park not guess and buy either too much or too little. This allows patients to attend their appointments without worrying about rushing back to the car.

The Trust is taking careful note of all comments in relation to parking to ensure that we continue to improve the service to patients and visitors to the hospital. I hope this information is helpful.

Kind regards

Mary
