When a friend was admitted with a sudden and very frightening condition there were a number of opportunities for information to have been shared that could have made this process soo much less terrifying.
Dr Hirae (ophthalmology) returned after his shift had finished and took the opportunity to actually involve the patient and his wife in their care. He pushed for specialist care and devoted his own time to searching the literature to try and make sense of a condition which has baffled all the experts.
His care, compassion and dedication to providing patient centered care and the highest standard of medical care is a shining example. He was unphased by the patriarchal approach of one of the more senior medics who's dismissive and careless approach to diagnostics will do nothing but breed fear in patients through a lack of shared information.
Please make sure that this dedication is recognised.
"an outstanding doctor willing to go the extra mile"
