"A & E Unprofessional and Incompetent"

About: Good Hope Hospital

Anything else?

I visited A&E with my husband who had fallen in the snow and hurt his knee, we were seen by the most apathetic doctor I had ever had the misfortune to encounter. They gave no information on any diagnosis, despite seeing that we were anxious about the swelling to the knee. They asked me bluntly to go get a wheelchair for my husband, with no direction as to where they are kept and surely this would be something a nurse would do as I did not wish to leave my husband. Luckily a nurse turned up and I asked them if they knew where the wheelchairs are kept and they told me not to worry and that they would get it, whilst the doctor just stood there and said nothing. Once the nurse arrived with the wheelchair, the doctor handed me some paperwork and told me to wheel my husband left then right out the department, I stood there perplexed, I asked the doctor what is wrong with my husband, where are you telling me to go and what is this paperwork for? They huffed again and then explained that they were sending us to the x-ray dept and that they suspected there may be a break in the knee joint. The nurse then kindly showed me the way to the x-ray dept. Later we returned to same rude doctor who said that my husband had a fracture on his knee and the nurse would put him in a splint and said nothing else. We asked the doctor about the swelling on the knee, what pain relief should be taken, how long the splint would need to be worn for, we also asked to see the x-ray of the knee so we could see the size and placement of the fracture, they replied again in a huff, as if we were asking them stupid questions, they pointed to the knee on the x-ray but could not pinpoint the fracture, this was not reassuring to hear from a professional. We left the hospital flabbergasted that such doctors work in A&E and relieved that we did not have to see them again. My father had also visited GoodHope A&E a few months earlier in agony with abdominal pain, when he was eventually seen the doctor said there was nothing wrong with him and that he needs to up his fluids. My father later that week went too see a specialist through his private healthcare plan and within the hour the specialist found a kidney stone the size of golf ball, how the doctors at GoodHope had missed this is shocking.

In summary Incompetent, Apathetic and Unprofessional is the NHS service you recieve at GoodHope Hospital, it has definetley earnt its reputation for being known locally as NoHope Hospital.
