"There when you need them"

About: King's College Hospital (Denmark Hill)

Anything else?

Having struggled with mental illness and suicidality for some years, I took the rash decision to do some quite considerable drinking to try to "take my mind off it", on a ghastly day. I lost control for the first time in my life. (If you are reading this with this disease, may I recommend not relying on drinking to solve emergencies; from personal experience.) I called 111 and these guys stepped in. Most would be harsh and judgemental, not that in any case that would be ok, but without seeing that there was a normal person who was where they were through a series of harsh problems, in trouble and on a very bad day.

These guys stepped up, and despite being busy, were there to save my life.

That they did it with courtesy means the shame of being in that situation is not such as to send me back.

They put up with a lot and are good people.
