"Call to 111"

About: Harmoni / NHS 111

(as a relative),

My mother was having breathing problems.

The person on the phone was polite & helpful but there were too many questions. I was answering for over 5 minutes & when we couldn't give any more information, he still kept repeating the questions

I hope that your mother is now feeling better.

NHS111 is designed to ensure a safe and thorough clinical assessment for all callers. Initial questioning ensures that the person who has a health need is asked questions that would exclude an immediately life threatening situation. Some questions that are asked may not seem relevant but they enable the Health Advisor to carry out a thorough assessment.

I am sorry that you found the questioning unhelpful but in order to direct your Mother to the correct service to support her needs it essential we obtain a clear understanding of what she is experiencing.
