"Dislocated Shoulder in the A and E"

About: Warwick Hospital

Anything else?

My husband fell in the street in Warwick whilst it was raining and dis-located his shoulder - we were on a holiday week-end. A lady walking by stopped to assist, she had a small child with her in a buggy, but immediately gave us her full attention as she checked my husband out - she was a nurse at Warwick hospital. She then phoned for an ambulance, which came in minutes, and she remained with us, calming and reassuring us until my husband was taken aboard the ambulance. I was allowed to travel with my husband and the men on the abulance were just marvelous, so kind, so professional and helpful. At the hospital there was a small wait, during which the ambulance men remained with us and then my husband was seen by a doctor. Beacuse my husband had hit himself against a bus shelter wall, he had to be xrayed and then his shoulder put back into place. Throughout this he was in a lot of pain, he is an older man and this is the second time he has dislocated his shoulder. The doctor and his staff, notably a nurse, were so good to him, and so kind and helpful, the treatment we received in the hospital was above and beyond what we expected. The end result was that after my husbands shoulder was put back in and he was given pain killers etc, the nurse took us back to our hotel, as she was going off duty and said she would see us safe back to the hotal. the doctor was able to give advice about contacting our own A and E when we got back home, and gave us a disc with the xray results. We left the hospital after what was a horrible start to a holiday week-end, reassured and comfoted by all the wonderful help we received from everyone at the hospital. A big thank you.
