i was admitted as a day case on tue 9/4/13 operation was a sucsess i had an ambulance booked from return home to mansfield. at 3pm it was decided that i would need to stop overnight the nurse in charge of ward phone the ambulance people. took about 10 mins to get through i was booked for 10/10/13 11am as stretcher case confirmed next morning at 0930 nurse came to me saying arriva have just phoned will be here at 11 am with stretcher 11oclock past 12 oclock past no ambulance charge nurse got on phone to arriva held waiting another 15 min before someone answered then told ambulance arriving at 1330hrs that time past no arrival at 1430 nurse on phone again held for another 10 min before answered ask to speak to a supervisor or manager at arriva after discussion waited for return call which did not happen on phone again told one on way but did not arrive at 1700hrs nurse is really starting to loss it and so am i another phone call told it will about 2000hrs before the ambulance will arrive un be known to me they were having the same prob getting a ambulance for a elderly patient as well at 2000hrs ambulance arrived then a second but neither were for us but thanks to the crew who picked me up and got me home at 2100hrs all calls to arrive were logged and who they spoke to names were taken the nurse were brill in how they handle a situation which they say is becoming quite regular as they are suppose to look after patientsand not waste there time waiting for call centres to pick a phone up i spoke to pal.s on thu was told someone would get back to me have phone twice more im still waiting for that call the same asi was the ambulance
