"Initiating contact to get appointment then being informed wrongly "

About: Telford and Wrekin Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as a parent/guardian),

Expected a call from TRAQS to arrange an appointment for my daughter within 5 days of her appointment with the doctor. After 20 days of waiting I rang to arrange the appointment.

How long would this have taken if I had not initiated this?

The referal given to my daughter was different to how it was explained by the doctor. She stated that she would see a community paediatrician (who she is already a patient with). Our appointment stated that she is to attend general surgery at the Hospital, this was not explained by the doctor. The TRAQS operator had to explain this to me which has added to our anxiety.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback following your daughter's recent referral via TRAQS

I am disappointed to hear that you feel TRAQS took longer than expected to process your referral.

TRAQS aim to contact patients within 5 working days of receiving the referral details from the GP practice. However, this can often be longer than 5 days from when the patient saw the GP. This depends upon the process within the practice of creating the referral as the letter has to be dictated by the GP, typed by the secretary and following being checked by the GP the referral is then created and received at TRAQS.

I am sorry to hear that your GP did not fully explain who the referral was addressed to and that this has added to your anxiety.
