I am a patient at a Medical Centre in North East Essex. I needed a Brand Name medication which I have been taking for over 12 years as the generic versions made me very ill. The Practice Manager refused to prescribe me the brand name and insisted I take the generic even though I told her the generic made me very ill. I approached the Health Ombudsman and they said I need a final response letter to handle my complaint.
I phoned the surgery and spoke to the Practice Manager and asked her for the final response letter. She said I had to pay her £15.00 for doing it. I said it was part of her job to write the letter. She got aggressive and told me I should move surgeries. I said I was not moving as I was quite happy at the surgery. She slammed the phone down on me as I was speaking.
I reported this incident to the North East Essex PCT and they seemingly ignored this poor behaviour. To date. I have not got my medication or any apology.
