"Consultant at Outpatients"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus

(as the patient),

Why did the consultant make me feel about 2 inches tall? First he didn't know why I was there, and then I felt he belittled my problems.

He had a medical student with him so it almost felt like he was teaching her how to keep the patient in his/her place. I had been kept waiting for ages so I was reduced to a quivering jelly before I even saw him.

Thank you for your openness and honesty. It is really concerning to hear that the behaviour of one of our consultant colleagues made you feel this way.

We believe in challenging one another when our values and behaviours don’t meet the required standards of NUH, and the NHS. This is one of those occasions.

If you wish to contact me directly on 0115 924 9924 ext 63443 or via email at Stephen.Ryder@nuh.nhs.uk, I will personally look into this for you.

Steve Ryder, Clinical Director for Diagnostics and Clinical Support Directorate
