Anything else?
I arrived for day surgery after only a short time being on the waiting list ( 3 months) in fact I had to opportunity to have my surgery after only a 6 week wait but it wasn't convenient to me. I was greeted and made to feel very reassured by the nursing staff, allocated to a bed space and from them the well oiled process swung into action. The only disappointment was when I was bumped down the list by 1 patient, but I was fully informed and it wasn't too long a wait. I had expressed my concern to the anaesthetist that general anaesthetics make me nauseous and he reassured me that he would make sure that I was given appropriate medication to prevent this. Following surgery I couldn't have been treated any better. My recovery nurse gave me pain relief as soon as I expressed discomfort. Arriving back on the day ward I was settled and offered a lovely light lunch. The therapist was soon round to show me how to use my crutches, which was great asI could be up and around and fully independent again. I felt I was cared for very well and was treated with dignity and respect by everyone.
My subsequent visits to the plaster room continued this excellent care. Run very efficiently the girls were wonderful, great sense of humour and very caring. I had to go back as I had a problem with my cast and they couldn't have been more concerned for me and determined that everything should be exactly right.
All I can say is that from the moment I was called for my first outpatient appointment through to my final one I have nothing but praise for the orthopaedic team. I couldn't have received better treatment anywhere, everyone I came into contact with was fantastic and are a credit to the NHS. Well done LGH, I will defiantly recommend this department.
