I had my son on in mid December 2012. He had to be induced due to my past history with giving birth very quickly, 15 minute labours in the past! So consultant advised to be induced so that we don't risk me having the baby at home or on the way to the hospital.
My consultant was a god send, who stayed with me throughout my labour, only ever popped out to get coffee or soda. Had an accompanying midwife with him also.
I felt at ease and very comfortable.
When my son was born, the consultant took a picture of me and my partner with our newborn from my phone.
I had to wait for a room to be made available to me at the cedar ward.
Once the midwife told me that my room was ready for the baby and me, we were transferred to our room in the space of two hours which is fairly good timing despite the fact the hospital was very busy that day, with few staff and loads of women labouring!
The midwives that care for me were excellent! Very supportive of me even though this was my fourth baby, they still sat with me and gave me sound advice.
I was given pain killers routinely after every four hours.
I bathed after I was moved to my room, as it had its own wash room facility.
The only downside was the FOOD!
In my opinion it was appalling. I could barely look at it let alone eat it.
This is the first time I've had my baby at heartlands and its been a pleasant experience! Previous three children were born in another district.
Thank you to all the dedicated staff at heartlands.
