"I had a wisdom tooth out at the ..."

About: Torbay Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I had a wisdom tooth out at the Day Surgery Unit on 22nd May 2008. I was nervous but the staff treating me, nurse, anaesthetist and surgeon were friendly and lighthearted while remaining professional at all times. All procedures, from booking in to the surgery itself were efficient and having the surgery and anaesthetic procedures explained by the persons who would be performing them allayed any fears I had and I entered the surgery calmly and thoroughly advised. As soon as I came around from the anaesthetic someone was there to ensure that I was OK and staff were very helpful. The surgeon visited shortly afterwards and informed me how the procedure went and offered advice on aftercare. I was given very effective pain relief and suffered no pain whatsoever during the recovery period. I was called early the following morning by a member of staff to check that I was OK, which I felt was good aftercare. Thank you so much for making an unpleasant procedure not so unpleasant at all!

We have let the staff in Day Surgery know about your kind comments, and they are very pleased indeed to hear that they were able to make your experience so much better than you'd feared.
