What I liked

What I liked or disliked is not relevant. What is relevant is the quality of care received.

What could be improved

I took my 2yr old daughter to hospital after her suffering sickness and diarrhoea for four days and being dehydrated and very unwell. Having been told that my daughter was to stay over night I had to ask to get sheets put on the bed for me to sleep in in her room. There was very little comunication. When staff did talk to me, they seemed more worried about getting questionnaires filled in than telling me was wrong with my daughter nor how to treat her. As example of this was the farsicle situation of my daughter being aked to confirm her date of birth. She is 2 yrs old and was unwell! I was told I could take her home, but she was clearly no better that when I had taken her in andI was very distressed. I did not find out that I could return to the hospital if I was worried about her until my husband phoned later in the evening.

I was given a sheet of questions to answer, all of which avoided the important questions relating to quality of treatment. My daughter received a sheet of questions to answer as well. She is 2 yrs old!

I am greaful for the health service as a rule, but on this occasion I am VERY unhappy with the way we were treated.
