"Disgraceful"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford)

Anything else?

I could not get anymore disgusted by the treatment my child has received from various departments at RD&E, My daughter started at the age of 13 of having extreme back pain and couldn't stand for any period of time doctors told us to go away continuously as she was young and healthy and obviously just experiencing growing pains finally changed doctors for him to tell us she had mild scoliosis but wouldn't be seen by anybody as it wasn't that bad, we had also told them about swelling in her knees and hip ankle and wrists which were ignored. over the next few years everything got worse and worse she was admitted to hospital for what they said was an asthma attack she spent 5 day on the high dependency unit with them unable to control her heart rate at all and she was extremely ill the unit wrote to our doctor telling him she had to be seen by a specialist as the pain she was suffering was not right so he obliged and sent us to see a spinal specialist who to start with was OK told us he would MRI her neck back hips and knees and see what would happen we went for the MRI thought nothing more till the results were in he told us he had only MRI scanned her back and that at 15 years old she had degenerative disc disease and she would just have to go away and live with it when i asked why her neck and the rest wasn't MRI'd he said they felt there was no need to have done this as they now had their answers with the back problem and to go away and come back when she was in a wheel chair, when we went back to our doctors i demanded a second opinionhe agreed to her being seen by another consultant and said he would check her bloods, they came back and we got a phone call to say he needed to do them again so went back in did them and left, 2 weeks later we get a phone call to come in to see the doctor we go in and he tells her the results aren't very good and she needs to be seen by a rheumatologist so we go when got our appointment turn up and a nurse comes over and says sorry why are you here so i give her the letter and she says sorry your appointment was cancelled someone should have informed you no one had, then the next appointment we actually get to see the doctor they go over everything all my daughters history and goes through all the results of her blood tests and tells us it looks like you have an autoimmune disease the treatment isnt very pleasant and you may not be able to finish school, (those were her exact words) ok so we need to repeat immunology and see what to do so we go off and wait she has the results in we get another appointment she sits there and blatantly lies when i ask what about the autoimmune she told us she has, she said i was mistaken i must of misunderstood what she said, sadly for the doctor i didn't misunderstand as i recorded our appointment!
