I have needed an operation since I stopped growing but have put it off for many different reason, one of them fear. I had been told that having bunions removed and toes straightened was a very painful experience to go through. Adding to the mix was the fact that I suffer with anxiety and agoraphobia. So at the age of 32 I decided I needed to just do it. At the first appointments the Consultant and his team were fantastic and explained everything. I was frustrated at one point as my operation dated kept getting moved but when the day did finally arrive I could not fault anything. Initially I was told that my mum could not stay with me but as panic set in that I would be on my own, the nurses were very accommodating. All the staff that I met on john Ray ward put me at ease throughout the day. I am still in plaster now and recovering so have a few more appointment with the team but they are a pleasure to deal with. They have made the whole experience painless. I would highly recommend this team.
