"Writhing in pain during a podiatry appointment "

About: Locala Community Partnerships CIC / Day surgery unit Locala Community Partnerships CIC / Podiatry

(as the patient),

I suffer from diabetes which is why I have problems with my feet. In the past I have had ingrowing toe nails and have had treatment for this at Huddersfield Outpatients. I have always found their service to be really good. The students are supervised by seniors and are very patient and slow with treatment which helps a lot.

Recently I have attended Cleckheaton where I was being treated for a septic toe nail. The pain I endured was excruciating. During the digging, the cutting and the filing, I was writhing in pain but yet the treatment continued. I feel that with that amount of pain caused next time they should use local anesthetic to make the process more comfortable and less painful.
