"Breastfeeding support"

I was seen by lactation consultants in hospital when my baby was born. He was in intensive care for the first day and did not have the opportunity to latch on straight away, and it was discovered at four days old that he had a tongue tie which was snipped at three weeks.

Each Monday for his first few months my baby and I went to the Baby Cafe which we found a great help. We were given plenty of encouragement and support. I persevered through each week with the help and advice from the Baby Café.

I expressed my milk and cup-fed him whilst trying to get him to latch on at each cup-feed, and finally whilst on our first family holiday at nine weeks old, we managed to successfully breastfeed at each feed.

My baby is now nearly eight months old and we are still enjoying breastfeeding. This helping experience has led me to enquire about becoming a Breastfeeding Volunteer Supporter.
