About: Royal Bournemouth General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

(March 2005)

I went into the delivery suite and remained there for 16 hours whilst each new midwife who came on shift asked how i felt. As a 1st time mum, it was scary especially as the staff relied on me to tell them whether I was fully dilated or ready to push. Each examination contradicted the other. I was pleased to finally be transferred to Poole to have my son a few hours later.

I still believe that my son would have been born a day earlier had I gone straight to Poole!

What could be improved

Introduce Drs to the maternity department to ensure full care is given. the midwives approach is too hands off.
