About: Leicester Royal Infirmary Leicester Royal Infirmary Leicester LE1 5WW
I was discharged from the Leicester Royal Infirmary yesterday. One week ago I had surgery to repair a tendon in my hand. This week when my dressing was removed, it was clear my wound was infected. However, a consultant took a look and said it was not infected. I went back the following morning as I was positive it was an infection. Sure enough, I was admitted immediately, required further surgery to clear out the infection and treated with IV antibiotics. Upon being discharged yesterday, I was told that the swab taken from my wound was 'presumed' MRSA. Basically meaning that it WAS MRSA but they don't want to shout about it. The doctor actually whispered it when we were on the ward. Don't believe the statistics about MRSA on here as I believe these don't include 'presumed' cases. Nice way to get around the fact they aren't as clean as they say. I've now been given strong antibiotics that are making me sick as a pig. Thanks LRI for infecting me with your superbug!
