My sister was from Norfolk and was visiting her daughter over the Christmas period in 2012 when she was taken ill and admitted to Mid Staffs hospital.
I am compelled to write and tell you how completely satisfied I was with the care my sister received from your Mid Staffs Hospital, and that although, unfortunately she died in this hospital, the staff did everything they could to prolong her life, and I truly believe this.
It was a very sad time for the family and particularly for her children, and they were treated with the utmost courtesy whilst my sister was treated with respect and the doctors and staff couldn't have tried harder than they did to get her well.
She was elderly and I think had given up and at the end wouldn't eat or drink.
This hospital, which has had very bad publicity and some might say "richly deserved", I think has now turned a corner and have learned by their mistakes and are making this now a hospital of excellence.
Good luck to the staff and doctors that have never lost faith in "their" hospital and success for the future.
I can't leave this without saying a big "thank you" for nursing my sister in her last days, with dignity and care.
"the care of my sister "
