"Visit to A&E Grantham Hospital"

About: Grantham & District Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

Visit was not a good experience. In pain throughout time in A&E.

Not informed how long the waiting time could be. It turned out to be 3+ hours

When finally getting to see a doctor, she asked to view X-rays. Evidently I should have been sent for X-ray when the triage was carried out. Went for X-ray, then had another wait to see the doctor.

Dear Mo21; thank you for leaving your feedback. I have spoken to sister in A&E and she has asked me to respond as follows: "Please give my sincere apologies to this patient. We are working hard to improve communication at triage to ensure all patients are aware of the waiting times and to keep the website regularly updated. We are waiting for our TV to be repaired enabling information to be given to patients as they wait. Unfortunately at present we only have 2 nursing staff who can send from triage to X-ray. This has been identified as a training issue and our consultant has scheduling training with the nursing staff to examine patients to enable them to send to X-ray from triage therefore greatly improving the patient journey. It would certainly make a huge difference and it is one area I am very keen to develop." Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience.
