The standards achieved in all aspects of this hospital fall well below those achieved by other NHS Trusts.

eg: little or no communication from surgeons and or their teams

A marked lacked of any understanding of patients illness/disabilities noted (do not read notes from GP's etc.)

Lack of basic nursing care on the ward - I could hear nursing staff including doctors laughing and joking whilst elderly patients were in need of basic hygiene care.

I have nothing good to say about the departments in the vascular, radiology , physiotherapy, general ward care , cleanliness , hygiene, catering, and dispensary.

Perhaps by looking at other Trusts lessons can be learned in the management and care of those in pain.

I am saddened to hear such a negative response from your time spent at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, as this does not reflect the usual positive feedback and low complaint rate we are proud to uphold. Please accept our apologies if any of the nursing care fell below your expectations - I would welcome you to discuss anything further in person if you would like to make an appointment with ward sister Rachel Edwards or Matron Julie Kite on 01905 760564.

I will discuss the points you have raised with the team at ward meeting, as it appears there was a lack of professionalism shown and I will also address the issue you raise about understanding of illness or disability and lack of communication from surgeons and their teams (again I would urge you to discuss any specific instance with me). Please rest assured that any complaint is taken seriously and would like to again offer our sincere apologies that your experience was less than satisfactory.
