"Glowing silver lining"

About: The Great Western Hospital

Anything else?

Admitted to the hospital via the tortuous route of drop-in centre, A&E and several hours painful wait. Here the service appears under stress and laborious, but nonetheless the staff were helpful, attentive and professional.

11 days on the ward where ALL staff were friendly and helpful. No real issues here, and I found the food (surprisingly) good.

Dislocation from the responsible doctors was one cause of concern (gastro complaint, but I was housed on another Ward) but the clinical care was of a high standard.

The provision of audio/visual facilities is quite frankly highway robbery and indequate in nature; this is solely an admin issue and should reflect on the Trust, not the Hospital.

I have nothing but praise for the nursing, anciliary and surgical staff at GWH.

Thank you for your comments. We’re always keen to receive feedback on the services we provide and it’s good to hear such positive reviews of our staff. Improvements are just around the corner for our A&E department. Between April and October the department will be refurbished with a new Paediatric Emergency Department created. As well as modernising facilities, we’re also recruiting additional staff. We hope that these changes will make a big difference to everyone who accesses our services through A&E and will improve everyone’s experience.
