Anything else?
My relative has been in royal preston hospital for the last 2 and a half weeks, during this time we have witnessed incidents that have made us question our faith in the nhs. We have been told numerous versions of what is happening with her by different members of staff, i witnessed an elderly patient being assisted to the toilet with the curtains fully open and everything visible to everyone in the bay. A patient who i have spoken to had ordered a meal from the menu and was still waiting for that food 3 days later. Another lady was given her food which was left on her table. The lady was unable to sit up or move herself and was struggling to eat her food, my other relative then offered to sit her up with her bed remote and cut her meal up for her. The patient could not have been more grateful and continued to say thankyou. My question to staff is what would that lady have done if we hadnt of helped?.I am extremely disappointed in the care given at royal preston, although i know full blame cannot be put on the staff as somethings are caused by staff cuts and pressure of having a heavy work load. One thing that really stood out to me was the lack of knowledge the nurses have of patients care and current state. Everytime i have asked what is happening the first reply is always "i dont know" either the staff are lacking in communication skills or the information is not being past down to the relevant people.
