"attendance at A & E with Mum"

About: Darent Valley Hospital

Anything else?

We attended A & E at Daren't Valley Hospital on Friday, 22nd March 2013 with my Mum, aged 86 years. We were met by a Nurse Practitioner, who took Mum's BP and carried a blood sugar test on her. We were referred to a receptionist, who was helpful and friendly, then on to a nurse to have blood tests. We then saw one of the doctors, who made Mum feel at ease. He arranged for a chest x- ray. Mum had a stomach virus and had constant diarrhoea. She felt so embarrassed as her clothes were ruined. I asked for help from one of the receptionists on x-ray and also a radiographer. They were very kind to Mum, and I feel this is so important to Mum at her age not to be made to feel as though she is a nuisance. They provided Mum with clothing to go home in, which We were very grateful for. Mum was sent home as she has a lot of support. In all we spent four hours getting Mum sorted. What a wonderful service. Thank you so much. Kind regards, Christina.
